What is the Haunted Hunt?
The Haunted Hunt will be a spooky scavenger hunt held on Bear-Paw's North River Preserve in Nottingham. The 1.1 mile out-and-back trail will be thoroughly decorated with seasonal, nature-themed items. Along the trail will be 13 "stations" with a few interesting facts about autumn's most famous - and infamous - plants & animals. On each fact sheet will be a clue, and the 13 clues combined will lead you to a "treasure chest" where your goody bags will be hidden.
Goody bags will include a small amount of candy as well as non-edible goodies, a seasonal, family-friendly recipe to try at home, and a child-friendly craft. They will be created as needed 24 hours in advance, and will be labelled with the names of children who are signed up for the Hunt. They will be placed in the "treasure chest" in the morning and at midday on the days of the Hunt, and any unclaimed bags will be collected at the end of the day to prevent damage by mischievous wildlife.
How to participate:
Sign up for a time slot above (please be patient with the clunkiness of the system; this is our first time putting on this type of activity). Your 'appointment confirmation' email will include a link to the scavenger hunt form and other activity information, as well as a map of the North River Preserve.
Please practice good trail etiquette. Although participation is by appointment, there are people who walk the trail regularly for enjoyment & exercise, and we expect to see a slightly higher than usual volume of traffic during this time. If you come across another group or individual on the trail, please step to the side of the trail and turn to make way.
