History

Massabesic Headwaters Preserve is composed of five individual parcels within the Bear Brook State Park habitat block. Two parcels were purchased from Manchester Sand & Gravel, and one from the Buxton family; all three were transferred into Bear-Paw ownership in 2007.

Grants from the NH DES Aquatic Resource Mitigation program, the USDA Land and Community Heritage Investment Program (LCHIP), and the Natural Resource Conservation Service all helped to fund the purchase of the land that is now known as Hinman Pond Preserve.
