Land Conservation
Bear-Paw partners with individual landowners, towns, state agencies, and other nonprofit organizations to conserve open space within our 11-town region. Land conservation is always a voluntary decision by a landowner who wishes - for whatever reason - to permanently protect the land from future development.
The Conserving Your Land booklet published by the NH Land Trust Coalition and the UNH Cooperative Extension is an excellent resource for learning more about conservation options. The Land Trust Alliance also provides information for landowners seeking to learn more about easements.
Our local land trust partners - SELT, the Forest Society, and Moose Mountains Regional Greenways - are also excellent sources of information.
You can also learn more about what has motivated landowners to conserve their land with Bear-Paw or review Frequently Asked Questions regarding conservation easements.
