History

Habitat & Wildlife

Mathes' North Road Preserve is almost entirely composed of Appalachian oak-pine forest, with a small grassy field all that remains of a former log landing along North Road (Rt 107). A small patch of wet meadow / shrub wetland on the northwest and southeast boundaries may be underestimated by the area shown on the map. A stream cuts through the property between the two patches of wetland, with another feeding into it from the southern boundary where it abuts a privately owned Bear-Paw easement.
After the unnamed stream leaves the property it leads into Freeses Pond and then joins the Lamprey River.
